Victory Vitamin Blog – Leviticus 19:18

“Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.”

Leviticus 19:18

Some view the Bible as a big book of rules.  They clearly haven’t read it.  Of course there are commands from God contained in the Bible but that shouldn’t surprise us in the least.  Families have rules.  Those rules are not there to annoy children or spoil their fun.  Rules are in place because of love.  Rules help to reduce chaos and protect children from harm.  Our heavenly Father also has rules.  They are set in place out of love.  Jesus died to pay the price for our sins and to show us how serious the situation is.  Sin is not a game.  God gives us rules to help us avoid sin and protect us from harm.  We may think we know best, but God’s way is a better way.  Leviticus contains many laws from God, but Jesus summarizes all of God’s law by saying, “Love the Lord with all your heart…and love your neighbor as yourself.”  We know God loves us, the death and resurrection of Jesus prove that.  God’s rules are given out of love and our response is motivated by love.  We seek to live our lives according to God’s will for our own good, for the good of others and to show our love for God.  It’s a better way.

Sunday Service Sneak Peek for July 14, 2019 – Leviticus 19:18

Sadly, some see the Bible as just a book of rules.  They’ve never taken the time to read about God’s love displayed in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.  Of course, there are rules in the Bible.  Since God is our heavenly Father, He is wiser than we are.  If you have children, I assume there are rules for them in your household?  Why should it be any different for us as God’s children?  God’s way is a better way!
