Victory Vitamin Blog – Psalm 113:1

“Praise the LORD.  Praise, O servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD.”

Psalm 113:1 NIV

When I was young I didn’t give it a thought.  As I age I think about it more.  What’s the point?  What’s the point of life?  Why am I here?  What am I supposed to be doing?  I honestly don’t know how an atheist would answer that question.  As a Christian, the answer is pretty simple.  Look up and read Psalm 113:1 again.  Your purpose is to praise the LORD.  Praise the LORD by worshiping Him regularly, singing, reading the Bible, praying.  All those activities give praise to God.  But the best way to praise God is by serving others.  Psalm 113:1 calls us servants of the LORD.  We’re servants OF the LORD, not so much servants TO the LORD.  We belong to the LORD, but we serve others.  God doesn’t need our service, others do!  No matter what you do every day, find a way to make it about serving others.  Are you meeting a need in their life?  Accountants, IT pros, welders, mechanics, stay at home parents, etc. all of these occupations make a difference in the lives of others.  God served us by meeting our most pressing need, the need for a Savior.  Jesus’ death and resurrection assure us of forgiveness and eternal life through faith in Him.  So whatever you do during the day, find a way to make it about serving others and by serving others you ARE praising the LORD.  Read those words again, OUT LOUD!  “Praise the LORD.  Praise, O servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD.” -Psalm 113:1

Victory Vitamin Blog – Psalms 107:1

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

-Psalms 107:1 NIV

God is good and His love does endure forever. It’s really all the reason we need to give thanks to God every day of our lives. We show our thankfulness in many ways with words, worship, songs, prayers, even our attitude. We also thank God with our actions, with our giving. It’s no coincidence that we conduct our annual stewardship campaign during this time. As Christians who are grateful for the blessings of forgiveness and eternal life in Christ, we show it by providing financial support for Victory, our spiritual home. We don’t give out of guilt or a sense of pressure. We give from a grateful heart. Victory is a spiritual home to young and old alike. Children learn about their Savior here each week. Adults are strengthened in their faith so that they can live, work, and witness with confidence and joy. Through worship and Bible study, we’re all reminded of the blessing of eternal life which puts all our earthly hardships in their proper perspective. Victory is doing the Lord’s work. Please prayerfully consider increasing your pledge from last year so that this work can continue and increase! You should have received a letter and pledge card in the mail recently. Please bring your completed pledge card to worship on Commitment Sunday, December 2nd. You’ll have the opportunity to bring your pledge card forward. Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good!
