Victory’s COVID – 19 Plan

Update: May 21, 2020

In response to the recent announcement by the Minnesota South District of the LCMS, other Lutheran denominations, and the Minnesota Catholic Conference,

Victory Lutheran Church, Eden Prairie is not planning to resume worship at our physical facility at this time.

March 17, 2020

Dear Members and Friends of Victory,

“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” -Psalm 46:10 NIV

With faith and confidence in our Almighty God, the Victory Board of Directors met and has decided on a plan for worship and other activities at Victory.

Worship is the central activity of the church. It is critical for us to gather together to receive what God offers through His Word and the Lord’s Supper. God’s Word also directs us saying, “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” -Galatians 6:10 NIV Unprecedented action is being taken in our nation to slow the spread of the COVID -19 virus. As a church whose identity revolves around community and being together, we find ourselves at a challenging juncture. In an attempt to balance the importance of corporate worship and our care for each other we will be live streaming our Wednesday evening Lent services and our Sunday morning worship services on Facebook. At 7 p.m. on Wednesday and 9 a.m. on Sunday go to the Victory Lutheran Church Facebook page to watch a simulcast of an abbreviated service. Though we will not be worshiping together physically, we are still the body of Christ.

I am still working to keep you connected to and comforted by God’s Word via social media. Our office Administrator, Jennifer is coordinating online resources including worship folders for the live-streamed services and children’s bulletins.  These will be emailed and also available on the Victory website. Our Board of Directors is dealing with issues as they arise on this ever changing landscape.  We’re praying for you, please pray for us!”

Pastoral care will continue. In other words, if you need something, please contact the church office, or me directly. Jennifer and I will also generally be keeping our regular office hours.

A few important things to keep in mind:

Victory’s financial obligations continue. Please mail your regular offerings to Victory or contact Pam Bandy on how to set up direct deposit. You can also download the Venmo app and search @victory-Lutheran to give your regular offerings that way.
Sunday School will not meet until further notice.
We will forego the remaining Lent suppers.
We will not be serving refreshments after worship until further notice.
Greeters, readers, ushers, worship assistants and acolytes need not report for duty on Sundays or Wednesdays until further notice.

I encourage you to read your Bible to receive strength and hope from God’s Word. Pray for wisdom for our leaders, protection for first responders and medical staff and a quick resolution to this issue here in our nation and around the world.
In order to maintain some sense of community, I encourage you to reach out to fellow members of Victory on Social media to be… well… “social”. Text, call, write a letter. Continue to communicate with each other.

If you have further questions, email or call. I am here for you and will be there for you wherever you are if needed.

Lent Worship 2020 – 7 PM Worship

Lent Worship 2020 – 7 PM Worship

Get to know Jesus better this Lenten season.  Jesus makes revealing statements about Himself in the Gospel of John saying things like, “I am the good shepherd”, and “I am the vine”.  Each week we’ll examine one of these “I am” statements and learn just how much our Savior loves us.  Services are Wednesdays beginning February 26 at 7 pm.  Come, grow in your faith and be empowered to share!

Advent 2019 – 6 PM Supper – 7 PM Worship

Advent is a time of waiting and preparation.  Jesus came to earth, lived a perfect life, offered that life on the cross as payment for our sins, then rose from the dead.  He then ascended into heaven after promising to return one day to take His people, body and soul, home to heaven.  It is for that coming that we now wait and prepare.  Throughout the season of Advent at Victory we’ll explore what it means to wait productively for the return of Christ!

Join us for Supper at 6 PM with Worship to follow at 7 PM on Wednesdays, December 4, 11 and 18, 2019.
