I remember two pieces of yellow construction paper in the shape of small mittens, with pieces of similarly shaped paper scrawling a careful, cursive pattern. Two decades worth of Sunday school kids from Redeemer Lutheran who to this day, will know exactly what was written between those two little pieces of hand-crafted construction paper: The Lord’s Prayer.

Galatians 5:16, 22-26 “So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.” Now that’s a challenge!

The Adventures of Bible Study

Certainly, we all know how important it is to be a life-long student of whatever interests you may partake. Golfers shouldn’t expect to get better at golf without putting in the time and energy into playing many rounds, learning about new clubs, maybe even hiring a pro to fine-tune a stroke. Runners shouldn’t expect to improve at running without putting in many miles of training, researching the newest shoes and analyzing their gait pattern.
