Sunday Service Sneak Peek for March 1, 2015 – Romans 5:1

Relax.  God’s Word in Romans 5 is given to calm us down and assure us that God loves us.  He demonstrated that love through the death of Jesus Christ.  Since Jesus has paid the debt for our sin, we are at peace with God, and if God is for us, no fear or force can be against us.  Relax. Learn more about Romans 5:1 this Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Victory Lutheran Church.

Victory Vitamin Blog – Mark 1:43-45

“Jesus sent him away at once with a strong warning:  ‘See that you don’t tell this to anyone.’  Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news.”

– Mark 1:43-45

Wow.  Blatant disregard for Jesus’ warning.  Not cool.  However, in fairness to the unnamed rebel referenced above, he had just been rescued from certain death.  The unnamed man had leprosy.  He approached Jesus and asked for healing.  Jesus had compassion on him and healed him instantly.  Leprosy was a death sentence.  It meant up to a decade of slow, painful, disfiguration resulting in death.  Jesus gave this guy a new lease on life!  Yes, Jesus strongly warned this man not to spread the word, but what else could the man do?  He had been given new life.  He had been healed from a very visible disease so people saw the change in him.  How could he keep that miracle to himself?  In a strikingly similar way, you and I have been given a new lease on life, as well as the certainty of eternal life with Christ.  Jesus saw our sinful state and knew that we were doomed.  So He took our sickness upon Himself on the cross.  He died, destroying the power of sin forever.  Through faith in Jesus we have a new lease on life!  I pray people see the change in you!  But rather than a warning to keep quiet, Jesus gives us the freedom, the privilege, the marching order to share this cure for sin with everyone.  How can we keep that miracle to ourselves?
