Sunday Service Sneak Peek for February 15th, 2015 – Mark 1:40-45

God washes us clean in baptism, and gives us the gift of faith in Jesus.  Whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have an eternal life.  Since there’s no need to fear physical death, we’ve been given a new lease on life.  How will you use it? Learn more about the book of Mark 1:40-45 this Sunday, February 15th, 2015 at Victory Lutheran Church.

Victory Vitamin Blog – Isaiah 40:31 NIV

“those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

– Isaiah 40:31 NIV

It’s been said, “It’s hard to soar with the eagles when you’re surrounded by turkeys”.   The implication is that you’re circumstances are more powerful than your potential.  I disagree.  If you read Isaiah chapter 40, it becomes clear that God is the one who gives strength.  It’s a strength of the soul and spirit, but I would argue that strength of spirit is what fuels strength of the mind and body.  In Isaiah 40 we read about the power and supremacy of God; how He created and rules over all things.  How He orchestrates the stars in the universe and events on earth.  Then God says, “those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.  The will soar on wings like eagles.”  The almighty God shares His power with those who hope and trust in Him.  How?  Through faith in Jesus.  Jesus showed supernatural strength by remaining on the cross when He could have escaped.  He shares that strength with you in your hard times through faith.  Jesus soared from the tomb and ascended into heaven so that we could have the assurance that life eternal waits for us.  Your circumstances do not control you.  God gives you the strength to soar above it all through faith in Jesus.  He has already won the victory over sin and death for you.  No earthly event can rob you of that gift.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.” Now that’s a challenge!
